Adoptive parents, John and Courtney

Dear Birthmother,

Thank you for taking the time to learn about us. We are Courtney and John. We have been married for seven years and have a strong marriage and a loving relationship. We have been blessed with two wonderful girls, Annie and Gracie, and are now looking to grow our family through adoption again.

About Us

We met in San Francisco in 1999 at the beginning of a cross-country bicycle ride, and by the time we reached Boston, we were dating. We still share a love of bicycling and the outdoors. We enjoy camping and family bike rides.

John is a professor and Courtney is a stay-at-home mom. John's job gives him a lot of flexibility and time off. Our older daughter Annie is an energetic, outgoing, thoughtful six year-old. Our younger daughter Gracie is a happy, loving, charming almost-two year old. We are blessed to be able to do a lot of things as a family.

About John

If I had to use one phrase to describe John, it would be "goal oriented." John loves to set challenging goals for himself, then see them through. An example is how hard he worked to complete his PhD; it was a long road, but he never gave up. John is now a professor of Management and his career provides well for our family and our home.

John enjoys bicycling, running, home improvement, and spending time with his family. He completed a non-stop 800 mile bicycle ride in France last year, and ran his first marathon earlier this year.

About Courtney

The quality that most attracted me to Courtney when we met was her compassion. Courtney is a very loving person who cares deeply about others. Courtney volunteers at soup kitchens and nursing homes, and to help in fund-raisers. She is a good listener, a great friend and daughter, and a wonderful mother. I am very blessed to share my life with her.

Courtney is a wonderful hostess and she enjoys cooking and entertaining. We celebrate every holiday and birthday with cakes and decorations. Additionally, Courtney enjoys bicycling, running, reading, knitting, and quilting. Over the past several years, she has become an accomplished quilter and our home has benefited from many of the beautiful quilts she has made.

Our Home

We live in a new neighborhood in a suburban town in Pennsylvania. Our home is surrounded by friendly neighbors, friendly neighbors and lots of young children. We have a nice backyard with a swing set and two great parks nearby.

Our city has amazing recreational opportunities that provide us with the opportunity for a lot of activities, such as dance and gymnastics classes, swimming lessons, and outdoor water parks in the summertime.

Our Extended Family

We have a large extended family. John is one of five, and Courtney is one of three. Family is an important value that guides our life. We are close to our extended families, and they are always on our minds. We think that it is important for our children to feel unconditional love from the people who are around them. Therefore, we visit with grandparents, aunt, uncles, and cousins weekly, and we travel regularly to see our extended family who live in other states.

The holiday season gives way to some of our favorite traditions. TV dinners on Christmas Eve are a tradition from John's childhood. John's dad worked in the Post Office. Since he had to work late on Christmas Eve, and because the family was busy decorating the Christmas tree, there was no time to cook a fancy dinner. So John's mom declared they could eat TV dinners in front of the tree. Since John and his siblings were not allowed to eat them at any other time of the year, it was a huge treat for them. His brothers still fight over the Salisbury steaks.
